#BEDN: Beauty, or 'Where was I when everyone learnt this stuff?!'

Today’s #BEDN prompt is ‘beauty’, and my first thought was to write something cheesy about how ‘beauty is only skin deep’ or something, but I haven’t had enough wine for that! However, it did bring to mind the hoards of Zoella-esque Beauty Gurus, with their ‘on fleek’ eyebrows and ombre lips and smokey eyes, and yet as we have seen here, I haven’t got a bloody clue! Regular guest blogger Bethan is my own personal beauty guru and every time she answers my panicked texts (wtf is an eyelash primer?!) with cool calm confidence, I wonder where I was when everyone else was at 'how to be a successful woman' classes?!

#BEDN: Home Office Tour

Today's #BEDN prompt is "style". I'm currently sat here in my PJs and a giant varsity hoody from a University I didn't even go to - so safe to say that I am not the right person to talk style in regards to fashion! That said, I decided I'd do a little home office tour, as it's the only room in the house that is entirely mine, (& the kitten's too of course!) and I think it shows off my "style" the best.

#BEDN: What you Left Behind - Jessica Verdi

An advanced copy of this book was kindly sent to me for review by the publishers. This book follows super popular, football star (of course) Ryden as he navigates life with a small baby after the death of his girlfriend to cancer. So, it's pretty heavy, though ultimately enjoyable to read.

Forward Slash - Louise Voss & Mark Edwards: Review

I never, ever read thriller/crime books. For a start, I am far too anxious for anything like that, my imagination runs away with me and I cannot handle it. I’ve also never thought it would be something I could find myself interested in. So I have no idea how I ended up with this on my Kindle but after reading it I am so glad I did!

I've got a Theory

I have finally, finally passed my bloody theory test! I know I’m 23 and miles behind everyone else, but learning to drive is pricey beans and it’s just such a relief to have passed!

How my optimism has failed me...

Generally, in my everyday life, I’d like to think of myself as pretty low-maintenance. When it comes to buying gifts, for example, family and friends often remark how easy it is to buy for me. I don’t want diamonds or designer clothes, a battered old book, novelty socks or craft supplies would make me much happier! So when it came to planning for the wedding, I figured my vision of a beautiful, outside, rustic themed ceremony was pretty low-maintenance too.

How bloody wrong I was!

“What am I doing with my life?!”. Safe to say that is a sentence I have been saying a lot more recently, as the job hunt continues. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve not applied for a huge number of jobs, only ones that seem ‘perfect’, and I’ve not really received any rejections as such. So it’s not as if the job hunt is going horrifically, I am just slowly losing confidence. Perhaps not in myself, (I am wonderful), but perhaps in others’ ability to recognise this(!)

Why Wear a Hat Day?!

Grab your tissues, boys and girls, this one might get a bit emosh! Way back in the Summer of 2010, before we even knew the other existed, my best friend Paul began to feel really poorly. He chalked it down to a tummy bug, but when the dizziness, nausea and headaches lasted for 10 weeks with no confirmed diagnoses, even with an appointment with a specialist, Paul started to think that this was just the way things were going to be for the foreseeable future.

Codiekinz' Top Tips for CV Writing Success!

Major nerd alert: I LOVE rewriting people’s CVs. I think it’s the same principle as tidying someone else’s room. Doing yours seems impossible, but something new and unseen is weirdly fulfilling. So last weekend I offered my CV rewriting services as a freebie (or ‘pay what you like’) to get some buzz around them, but to also enable some of my student friends to be able to get their CV looked at without forking over cash. It’s been great and I got a whole load to look over, so I figured I would write a little post about my top tips!

Top Tips for Running in your Students' Union Elections

Running in your union elections is one of the best, more rewarding things you can do, but boy is it hard work! I ran for VP of my union and I got it (yay!), but I’m by no means an expert, these are just a few things I’ve picked up along the way! I’ve compiled my top tips, for running the best election campaign - of course it's super important to be aware of your own union's rules whilst the reading this! These were just things that worked for me, there's no guarantee, but they are some things I wish I'd known when I ran.
